Leova: Changes Ahead
Wow. I wrote those words a few weeks ago as we were preparing to sell the current building and purchase another. Now we are changing back! As we often say….that is Moldova!
When the owner of the other building decided to raise the price, we decided that it was God’s direction to just pass and to refocus on the current building. We lost a little time, but this is still a great building. We will remodel a couple of the current rooms, then redo the foundation on the front of the building. With a new roof and some updates, this building is going to be incredible.
So we are looking forward to a great week of ministry with Christ’s Place, a church from Nebraska. They are adopting this community and church as their own, and we are going to have fun ministering here. Praying for some great breakthroughs.
The needs are still pretty big, more than one church can cover themselves. With the need to redo the roof, we are going to need another $20,000. Do you want to be a part of giving a church a new home? We could use 5-10 people or churches interested in making this happen.
[Need: $20,000. Note Project 13110-Leova in memo]
Church: Comrat
In discussion with the national leaders yesterday, we’ve really decided to take energy and focus on getting a church built and growing in Comrat. This city is the capital of the Gagauz region of Moldova, a location that is still very unreached. It is the poorest part of Moldova, still with few churches.
The Gagauz people need churches here, and they are ready to help build a new church building. We want to help first to get some key property in this city. Pray for the church here as we prepare to buy land to build. It is not cheap here due to its location and size, but God has a great plan for Comrat!
If you want to help, it will take about $50,000 to buy a key piece of land. If you want to help toward it, send to our missions account, with Project 13110 Comrat in memo.
Freedom Home:
The biggest need at Freedom Home is for prayer. We need people who will intercede for the lives of these young women (and the kids there as well). We need God to build a hunger in their lives for change. We need the Holy Spirit to fill and transform their lives.
On a practical side, we need $4500 each month to pay the bills: heat, food, staff, electricity, medical, etc. We have about 20% of that which comes in monthly. God always supplies the rest.
We done some of the remodeling work already, with first repairs finished on septic system. We will now probably wait until spring to get the second office/counseling room built. Send support to our account information below, Proj 6976 in memo.
AND…we are still looking ahead at purchasing an apartment as another transition home (Need: $50,000). (Though it is another long story about the huge gift we have set aside for that apartment already!)
[Need: Some strong faithful partners].
Teen Challenge Center: Next Phase
Teen Challenge Moldova has been working with drug and alcohol addicts for around 7 years already, having enormous impact in helping so many men and women find freedom from addictions. The fruit of this ministry is proven, witnessed in the lives of countless people in the churches.
Almost five years ago, we purchased a fantastic building for the new ministry center, but remodeling has been a slow process. We’ve replaced windows, remodeled a kitchen, and finally have indoor toilets and showers. But there is one last HUGE step–heating.
We are happy to note that the team from Forest Lake, MN, was able to help purchase and install the heating system! We are going to have heat this winter!
We still have a lot of work to complete this project, ranging from building bedrooms ($2000/br), repairing floors ($4000), building stairs ($1000), and hanging suspended ceilings ($3500). But we are getting closer.
If you want to help with this project, please send to our account, with the memo: Project 13061.
